Is this guy I talk to online just taking advantage of me?

AWW,that is so sad about your Mom.Please be very careful as to whom you trust on line.Not everyone is who they say they are. And it is always best to keep your guard up.There are all kinds of people out there and we can't know if sure if they are on the level with us or not.If you need to talk more about your Mom's illness please call her doctors office and ask the nurse there if she can give you the names of a few organizations that you can talk to about the illness.And the folks at those places can help you. Please take care and your Mom has a very lovely daughter !
